Hiring Announcement: John Dallas, Academic Chair

October 28, 2019
October 25, 2019

I would like to announce John Dallas as the new Chair for ICT-SSN effective Monday November 4, 2019.

John has a Bachelor of Computing from Guelph University and a Master of Arts in Learning and Technology from Royal Roads University.  He has 15 years of experience in education and technology as an educator, software developer, application administrator and manager.  He got his start as an education developer for Desire2Learn (Brightspace), worked as a software developer for an educational games start-up in Ottawa, and taught high school computer science online through Kitchener Waterloo Private School (VirtualHighschool).

He has been with the college already for quite some time – in his 7 years with the Centre for Continuing and Online Learning (CCOL), he implemented the “Quality Matters” framework, conducted collaborative programming through eCampus Ontario, co-chaired Brightspace implementation, and developed the CCOL Design Studio team.

John knows Algonquin College, he knows academics, he knows the subject matter and will provide proven academic leadership and strong program planning and development skills.

He is also a very nice person and I think that we will all genuinely enjoy working with John in his new role.
